Segmented Knife Scales No.6 - Padauk + Yellow Liner + Purple Resin + Wenge
Segmented scales are built, not cut. Contrasting hardwoods, coloured liners and a resin or corian band are laminated together, then sawn into a bookmatched pair — so the layers meet at the centreline and mirror across the finished handle.
Red padauk against purple resin — neighbours on the colour wheel, so this one reads as rich rather than contrasting. The quietest of the purple builds and the easiest to live with.
This is the look people assume takes advanced glue-up skills. It does — we have already done it. You shape and sand as you would any solid scale, and the pattern emerges as the profile changes.
One purchase is one bookmatched pair — both scales for a single full tang knife, cut from the same laminated billet.
Each piece is selected, cut, combined with liners and sanded by hand. Resin tones can vary slightly between batches, which is what keeps every knife individual.
