1.4116 Sandblasted Knife Blank - SK20

The blasted surface is a practical finish: no reflections in the field and no need to chase a mirror polish on the flats.

1.4116 (X50CrMoV15) is tough, highly corrosion resistant and forgiving to sharpen. For a first build or a knife that will be abused, it is the sensible choice.

We buy steel direct from Voestalpine, grind each blade by hand on the belt grinder, and return the blanks to Voestalpine for heat treatment done to spec.

The tang is drilled and profiled, so handle work is the only step left. Scales, pins, epoxy — the knife is done in an evening.
