Mosaic pins are the detail that makes a handle look finished rather than assembled. Brass tubing packed with coloured epoxy, so every pin shows a different pattern once it is ground flush and sanded.

Drill, epoxy in, cut proud, then take it down with the rest of the handle. The pattern appears as you sand.

Red mosaic in 6 mm (0.24 in) suits handles in dark wood — wenge, ebony, blackened micarta — where the pattern needs to announce itself. Against walnut it reads warm rather than loud.
