N690 Full Tang Kiridashi Knife Blank - N98
A full tang kiridashi, and a big one. Where the traditional kiridashi is a pocket marking knife, this is the version you build a working utility blade around — 85 mm (3.3 in) of edge on a 205 mm (8.1 in) blank, with scales bolted to a full tang rather than a slotted handle.
Single bevel, right handed. Ground on one side only, which is what gives a kiridashi its behaviour: the flat face rides against the workpiece and the cut tracks exactly where you put it. For marking joinery, scoring leather or trimming into a corner, nothing with two bevels comes close.
Böhler N690 is the reason this holds up in daily use. Cobalt and vanadium give it fine grain and real edge retention, 17% chromium keeps it stainless, and at 4.2 mm (0.17 in) the blank has enough spine to be levered without flexing.
Full tang means the handle is two scales and three pins — the simplest build there is, and the strongest. The tang is drilled and profiled already.
